Where is my money?

All tips go through a 7-day security hold before becoming available for withdrawal. Here's why:

  • Credit card payments take 3-5 business days to fully clear through the banking system
  • The 7-day window allows time to detect fraudulent transactions and chargebacks
  • This protects both you and TipBolt from financial loss due to fraud
  • After 7 days, funds automatically move from "Pending" to "Available"

This is NOT TipBolt withholding your funds. It's a standard "cooling-down period\" used by all major payment platforms (PayPal, Stripe, Square) to ensure the supporter's payment is legitimate and fully cleared.

Why can't I click the Withdraw button?

The withdraw button activates automatically once your "Available Balance" reaches $20.00 USD. Here's why we have this minimum:

The Math Behind the $20 Minimum

  • • Payment processors charge a fixed fee per transaction (typically $0.25-$0.50)
  • • Without a minimum, these fees could eat up 10-25% of small withdrawals
  • • Example: A $2 withdrawal would lose 25% to fees ($0.50)
  • • At $20, the fee is only 2.5% ($0.50), which is much more efficient

This threshold allows us to maintain the lowest platform fee in the industry (2%) while ensuring you keep more of your earnings.

How do I get paid?

TipBolt uses Stripe Connect for secure payouts. Here's how to set it up:

  1. Wait until your Available Balance reaches $20.00
  2. Click "Withdraw Funds" in your dashboard
  3. You'll be prompted to connect your bank account or debit card via Stripe
  4. Complete the identity verification process (required by financial regulations)
  5. Once verified, your withdrawal will process within 2-5 business days

Important: When you withdraw, your entire Available Balance is transferred to minimize transaction fees. Partial withdrawals are not supported.

My account is under review. What does this mean?

TipBolt uses automated fraud detection to protect creators and supporters. Your account may be flagged for review if:

  • You received more than $500 in tips within one hour (unusually high volume)
  • Multiple payments from the same IP address or payment method
  • Pattern of chargebacks or disputed transactions
  • Suspicious activity detected by our fraud prevention systems

What happens during review:

  • Withdrawals are temporarily disabled
  • Our team manually reviews the flagged activity
  • You may be asked to provide additional verification
  • Reviews typically complete within 1-2 business days

If your account is under review, you'll receive an email with instructions. For urgent matters, contact fraud@tipbolt.com.

What is a chargeback?

A chargeback occurs when a supporter disputes a tip with their credit card company. Common reasons include:

  • Fraudulent or unauthorized use of their credit card
  • Supporter doesn't recognize the charge on their statement
  • Buyer's remorse or accidental payment

How chargebacks affect you:

  • The disputed amount is deducted from your Available or Pending balance
  • If your balance is insufficient, it may become negative
  • Future tips will be applied to cover the deficit before you can withdraw

This is why the 7-day hold exists – it gives us time to identify fraudulent transactions before funds become available to you.
